Örömmel tudatjuk, hogy a Molnár Ani Galéria idén is részt vesz a LOOP Barcelona nemzetközi videóművészeti vásáron. A tavalyi eseményen Forgács Péter ‘Méreg’ című, a galéria által bemutatott alkotása a vásár fődíjában, az Acquisition Awardban részesült. Idén egy újabb Forgács mű, a ‘Rembrandt morfok’ kerül bemutatásra.
A művész egy számítógépes szoftver segítségével folyatja át egymásba Rembrandt 37 neves önarcképét, ezáltal filmet létrehozva a festmények digitális fényképeiből.
A videó az amszterdami EYE Filmmuseum és a budapesti Szépművészeti Múzeum gyűjteményének is része. A mű egész évben látható az EYE Rembrandt halálának 350. évfordulója alkalmából rendezett kiállításán, továbbá a múzeum a 2019-es Cannes-i filmfesztivál holland pavilonjában is bemutatta. Forgács munkája kiállításra került az idén a Magyar Nemzeti Galériában ‘Az önarckép fantomja. Rembrandt 350’ című tárlaton is. Az évforduló ténye különös aktualitást ad a mű bemutatásának ezen a rangos videóművészeti vásáron.

We are very pleased to announce our participation at the LOOP Barcelona international video art fair. Péter Forgács‘s ‘Venom – A Diva in Exile’, presented by the gallery last year, received the Acquisition Award, the main prize of the fair. This year another video work by him, ‘Rembrandt Morphs’, will be shown.
Forgács uses computer technology to process 37 renowned self-portraits by Rembrandt – the pictures morph into each other, thus creating a film from digital photographs of the paintings.
The video is part of the collection of the EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam and the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. The work is on display throughout the year at the EYE on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt’s death, and was also on display at the Dutch pavilion on the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Forgács’s piece was shown this year on the exhibition ‘The Phantom of Self-Portrait. Rembrandt 350’ in the Hungarian National Gallery as well. The anniversary gives special actuality to the presentation of the work at this prestigious video art fair.

Forgács Péter (1950) nemzetközileg elismert médiaművész, filmes. Művei megtalálhatók többek között a MoMA (New York), a Pompidou Center (Párizs) vagy a Getty Museum (Los Angeles) gyűjteményeiben. 1978 óta készít filmeket és média-installációkat. Videóinstallációi többek között az MCNY-ban (New York), a Getty Museum-ban (Los Angeles), az EYE Film Museum-ban (Amszterdam), a Bozar-ban (Brüsszel) és a Louvre-ban (Párizs) kerültek kiállításra. 2009-ben a Velencei Biennálén képviselte Magyarországot Col Tempo című projektjével.

Péter Forgács (1950) is an internationally recognized media artist and filmmaker. His works can be found in the collections of the MoMA (New York), the Centre Pompidou (Paris) or the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, among others. Since 1978, he has been creating films and media installations. His video installations have been exhibited in MCNY (New York), the Getty Museum (Los Angeles), the EYE Film Museum (Amsterdam), the Bozar (Brussels) and in the Louvre (Paris) among others. In 2009 he represented Hungary with his project ‘Col Tempo’ at the Venice Biennale.
